The install helpers used an invalid string check. ``('ubuntu')`` is
not a tuple. It's a string with superfluous parenthesis. A single-item
tuple would be ``('ubuntu',)``. It's recommended to use set literals to
avoid such mistakes.
Also check for 'debian' platform.
